My child has been asked to find out about the significance of the number of wicks on the havdalah candle
We light a candle when Shabbos goes out to remind us of Adam, who discovered fire after his first Shabbos.
The rabbis tell us to make an Avuka, which is a bonfire, or a significant flame, which can be used to give lots of light and to heat things up.
This is why we use two or more wicks, to create the Avuka.
