Police in Bushey have been involved as part of a nationwide anti-terrorism campaign which has seen 13 people being arrested across the UK.
A man has been arrested at a detached £500,000 home in Little Bushey Lane which leads into the Jewish Bushey Cemetery in Herfordshire.
According to one local person, the Bushey raid took place during Tuesday afternoon and was very discreet. "We didn't hear any blaring sirens, the next we knew there were police outside the house."
The area surrounding the arrest is popular with Jewish families. "We heard about the raids taking place across the country but never would I have thought something like this would happen in our area," offered another local person. "This is a very peaceful and quiet area and everyone is shocked."
All the men arrested are described as being of Asian appearance. Police say the men are aged between 19 and 32.
In a statement, police have said: "Officers continue to search at a number of premises in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Lancashire and are currently executing search warrants granted under the Terrorism Act 2000."
