Wizo appeal

Last updated: 2004-09-02

Wizo is the largest Jewish women's organisation in Great Britain and Ireland.

The goal of WIZO is to respond to the challenges that arise in Israeli society - through every stage of life. To take on tasks to aid society and to care for those in distress, both on children and adults, to lend a hand to new immigrants and to protect those at risk - in order to secure a better society for all.

WIZO is also an international women's movement with more than 250,000 members. In Israel a network of staff and volunteers is instrumental in operating over 800 social welfare projects and services.

WIZO is a non-party political movement of Zionist women providing a powerful voice for all Jewish women on human rights issues and concerns relating to the status of women. It is recognised by the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organisation with consultative status on ECOSOC and UNICEF.
