The Board of Deputies has welcomed Jon Benjamin as its new Director General. The former Chief Executive of British ORT has now officially taken up his new position, following the announcement of his appointment in September 2004 and the retirement of Neville Nagler.
Commenting on the change, Board President Henry Grunwald QC said: "We are delighted that Jon Benjamin has now taken up his new appointment with the Board. We feel confident that our close working relationship will be of great service to the Jewish Community of which Jon has a wide experience. He has a deep commitment to the aims and activities of the Board and we wish him every success on behalf of the Board and the Community as a whole."
"I would also like to pay tribute to his predecessor Neville Nagler; who has served the Board with dedication and distinction for more than thirteen years. We are delighted that he will be continuing to serve the community as a consultant to the Board on interfaith matters and through the activities of the Three Faiths Forum and its affiliated bodies."
Jon Benjamin commented, "I am thankful to the lay leadership and professional staff at the Board for their warm welcome and, with their help, look forward to advancing the interests of Jewish people in the UK and our relationships with the wider community."
