The Board of Deputies hosted a dinner for a delegation from the American Jewish Committee last Thursday. The delegation, which included the President and the Executive Director of the AJC, were on the last stop of a packed schedule which has included visits to Poland, Turkey, Russia and Israel.

Whilst in London, the delegation was accompanied to a number of high profile meetings by Board President Henry Grunwald. These included meetings with Mike O’Brien, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Middle East at the Foreign Office, with Lord Levy, with Lord Janner and with David Hallam, Private Secretary at No.10. High on the agenda for discussion were the Middle East Road Map, funding of international terrorism, antisemitism and Iran.

Board President Henry Grunwald commented: “The visit from the AJC provided a great opportunity for the Board to discuss many issues of concern which affect both British and American Jewish communities, especially the rise of antisemitism in Europe and the threat of international terrorism. It is important that national Jewish organisations from different countries work closely together to safeguard the future of Jewish communities around the world. We were delighted to host the AJC and look forward to the continuing exchange of information and cooperation between our two organisations in the future.”
