Murder in Golders Green

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a 85-year-old women was murdered in Golders Green.

Anne Mendel was discovered by her husband Leonard on Monday morning at their home in Elmcroft Crescent after he had been out and according to Police, Mrs Mendel had sustained knife injuries.

A post mortem on Tuesday gave the cause of death as stab wounds is taking place today to determine the exact cause of death.

Police believe it to be a burglary and not an anti-semitic attack and took place between 9am and 11.30am.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Morris who is leading the investigation said: "The murder team are working with local police in conducting analysis of all burglaries that have occurred in the area. We are determined to work closely with the local communities, particularly the Jewish community, to bring to justice those responsible for this awful and cowardly murder."
