BOARD DEPLORES TERROR ATTACKS IN MOROCCO

Last updated: 2003-05-20

The Board of Deputies is appalled by the recent suicide bombings in Morocco which included the direct targeting of a Jewish community centre.

Board President Henry Grunwald QC said: “Once again we are faced with another horrific terrorist attack which has killed countless innocent civilians. The appalling events in Morocco highlight the exact points made in the Board's recent memorandum to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons. This war against terrorism is indivisible and requires a long-term and sustained commitment to defeat it across a broad front.

“The direct targeting of a Jewish community center is just another indication of the appalling rise in anti-Semitism since the beginning of the year. The government of Morocco has always been very kind to its own Jewish community and we express our sincere condolences to the kingdom of Morocco.”
