London's City Hall was the focal point to a remembrance ceremony to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The event, which took place on Tuesday, featured a choir of Jewish secondary school pupils from JFS, a testimony from Hermann Hirschberger, one of 10,000 children who fled Nazi persecution in Europe and escaped to Britain on the Kindertransport and a reading from London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

A special Statement of Commitment to support Holocaust Memorial Day was signed by dignities attending and will also be open to the public to sign until the end of the week.

The event was jointly organised by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly with assistance from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
