Hollywood's A-List Jewish couple Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky are celebrating the birth of their first child. The baby boy was born on Wednesday at a hospital in New York.
A spokeswoman for 35-year-old Weisz, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar earlier in the year for The Constant Gardener, said mother and baby were "happy, healthy and wonderful". However, following the Jewish custom of not naming a baby boy until after the bris the circumcision ceremony which traditionally takes place when the child is eight days old the name of the new arrival has yet to be revealed.
The London-born Semitic star first revealed she was pregnant on the popular Jay Leno talk show in January. She is engaged to director Aronofsky, who is best known for the Jewish-themed sci-fi drama Pi and the Oscar-nominated Requiem For A Dream.
Weisz will be back on cinema screens in Aronofsky's next movie, the futuristic drama The Fountain, which also stars X-Man Hugh Jackman.
