As the conflict in the Middle East intensifies, the United Jewish Appeal has launched a project to support residents of the Galil region in Israel which includes Shlomi who have come under attack by Hezbollah rockets.
The Solidarity with the Galil Appeal aims to raise money that will help provide educational toys for those children who are in shelters in the region as well as offering summer day camps in an area for them to go to.
"Shlomi has been under fire for several days and all our residents have been in shelters during that time, said Mayor Gabi Na'aman. "The friendship, concern and warmth we have received from the British Jewish community since the start of the crisis has strengthened us no end. The fantastic support from UJIA is helping us tremendously during this difficult period ".
"The British Jewish Community and the UJIA stand firmly by the people of Israel, at this challenging time. Over the past week, the residents of the Galil, the UJIA's Partnership Region, have undergone an extremely difficult experience and our hearts are with them," said UJIA chief executive Douglas Krikler.
"As we pray for their welfare, we know that the relief that UJIA is bringing to the Galil is very much needed and appreciated. We are all hoping for a speedy resolution and an end to the violence and loss of life.
