A 24-year-old singer/songwriter from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire has emerged as the winner of an X-Factor style competition to find the best new Jewish talent.
Yamit Mamo fought tough competition in the final competing against seven other Jewish performers to win the top prize of a day with her band in the recording studio of Guy Chambers. At the end of the day, Mamo will also be given a CD of their work.
Organised by children and families charity Norwood, the event took place at the ArtsDepot in north Finchley and was attended by more than 350 people. The night also raised more than £8,000 for the charity and was also supported by X-Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
"I am so glad to have been given the opportunity to perform my music with my band in front of this great crowd and these knowledgeable judges," Mamo said. "I am touched and honoured to have been chosen as winner of The BIG Voice."
Among the judges were singing coach Rick Guard, G4 member Jon Ansell, head of ITV Entertainment Rachel Ashdown and actress/singer Brenda Edwards.
