Labour Party chief fundraiser Lord Levy has become the new president of the Jewish Lads & Girls Brigade (JLGB).
The 62-year-old replaces Dame Simone Prendergast and his position will officially be marked at an inaugural reception to be held in March.
While Lord Levy himself was not a member of the JLGB in his youth, daughter Juliet was active with the organisation.
I am delighted to take up this post with Anglo Jewrys longest serving Jewish youth organisation," said Lord Levy. "I am looking forward to helping the JLGB expand their vital work and to help them achieve their most admirable goals.
As well as fund raising for his political interests, Lord Levy is also active in raising funds for Jewish communal services including Jewish Care where he also holds the role of president.
We are honoured Lord Levy has agreed to support the Brigade by becoming our new President and to help us put the JLGB back into the hearts and minds of the Jewish Community where it so rightfully deserves to be," said Brigade council chairman Norman Terret.
