A website which aims to help British Jews to go green and learn about ways to protect the environment has been launched by the Board of Deputies and Jewish ecological group the Noah Project.
The Big Green Jewish Website aims to be used as a resource across the whole Jewish community and promote environmentalism through traditional biblical texts as well as modern Jewish teachings.
"The Big Green Jewish Website is an exciting initiative and a useful resource for all communities seeking to address the challenges of the environment and global climate change," said Board president Henry Grunwald. "These are issues that will not only affect us during our lifetime, but ldor va dor for generations to come."
The project has also gained support from David Miliband, Secretary of State for the Environment.
"It is a great pleasure to be associated with the launch of this innovative and useful initiative," said Miliband. "Climate change is one of the biggest crises we are facing. The Big Green Jewish Website is a prime example of the valuable role that faith communities and their rich traditions can play in tackling this challenge."
