Muslim Council of Britain
The assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain is to take part in a panel debate organised by the Jewish Community Centre for London tonight at the Everyman Cinema Club in Hampstead, north west London.
Under the theme "Does more unite Jews and Muslims than divides us?", Inayat Bunglawala will explore his views along with Independent journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, Professor David Cesarani and Adrian Cohen, chair of the London Jewish Forum.
Writing recently in the Jewish Chronicle, Bunglawala claims there is common ground between Jews and Muslim in the UK. "Muslim communities must take more responsibility to ensure that criticism of some of Israel's policies does not slide into a kind of a casual anti-Semitism. Perhaps the best way to encourage this vigilance is to ensure that grassroots ties prosper between our communities."
According to the JCC, this is the first time Bunglawala has ever addressed a Jewish community organisation.
