Australian author Thomas Keneally, best known for the 1982 book Schindler's Ark, is to appear on the BBC's World Service programme World Book Club, where he will discuss the novel.

The programme will be recorded in front of a studio audience at The British Library on Thursday 24 May at 4.30pm and members of the public can attend as well as ask him a question.

Keneally was inspired to write the book, which chronicles the story of World War II hero Oskar Schindler, after meeting Holocaust survivor Leopold Pfefferberg in 1980. Pfefferberg told him the story of Schindler and how he saved his life, as well as others.

The book was eventually turned into the Oscar winning film Schindler's List in 1993 by director Steven Spielberg.

Free tickets to join the studio audience can be requested by email worldbookclub@bbc.co.uk or by phoning 0207 557 1619.
