David Beckham is set to make his first visit to Israel which will also see him play his last game for Real Madrid before moving to America to join Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 32-year-old former England captain will take part in a match between the Spanish club and a team of Israeli and Palestinian players.

The game on June 19 marks the 10th anniversary of the Peres Centre for Peace and will be played in front of 40,000 people and screened live on Israeli TV.

In a statement, Real Madrid said: "Real Madrid does a very important job through its Foundation to achieve social integration through sports activities, sharing the same goals as the Peres Center for Peace, which tries to improve the relationships between Israelis and Palestinians, especially those of their children. Real Madrid have gladly accepted to take part in the match -which has been organised partly for children's enjoyment- because it supports and defends causes of this kind."

According to reports, once Beckham is in Israel, under the law of return, he could take up Israeli citizenship as his maternal grandfather Joseph West was Jewish.
