The security organisation that helps to protect British Jews from anti-Semitic attacks is reminding the community of the importance to remain 'vigilant and alert' following recent terrorist activity in the country that has seen car bombs in London and Glasgow.
The Community Security Trust (CST) has issued an information update that is being distributed across synagogues and other communal organisations in which it emphasises that security measures need to be enforced.
It also revealed that it is in regular contact with the Police.
In the update, the CST says: "Car bombs in London and Glasgow have so far targeted a bar and an airport. There is no specific information that the Jewish community is a target, but Islamist terrorists have attacked Jewish communities around the world several times in recent years."
It further adds: "Earlier this year, five British Islamists were jailed for a terrorist plot that included the possible targeting of synagogues in the UK."
The CST urges the Jewish community throughout the UK to ensure that security measures are strictly followed.
