New plans for Singer's Prayer Book
Last updated: 2002-10-18
The United Synagogue is considering a new edition of the Singers Prayer Book in a modern and user-friendly format.
The Singers Prayer-Book publication committee, headed by former President Elkan Levy, will focus on producing a siddur whose design and appearance make it relevant to United Synagogue members in the modern age. The halachic framework and textual content will be under the guidance of the Chief Rabbi and the London Beth Din.
Committee Chairman Elkan Levy said:
"Our primary concern is to ensure that by its presentation, explanations, and commentary, this new siddur will touch the souls and minds of all who use it."
Many positive and creative responses have already been received to a recent questionnaire requesting feedback on layout, commentaries and new features. The project will take about three years and the current edition will remain available during that period.
