Jewish group meets needs

A new think tank for developing strategies for British Jewry has been created under the auspices of the Board of Deputies.

The Community Research Group will explore three key areas: education, welfare provision and community development.

A number of chief executives and other senior communal staff from Jewish organisations are involved in the group including Simon Morris from Jewish Care and Jeremy Newmark from the Jewish Leadership Council.

"This is an opportunity have a working think-tank carry out strategic planning for the British Jewish community," said Alexander Goldberg, director of community issues at the Board of Deputies who is also leading the group. "We are encouraged and honoured that key organisations have been keen to join this effort. It is precisely this kind of inclusive participation that will enable us to conduct research that is based on the real needs of British Jewry."
