A delegation of senior officials from a number of British Government departments including the Home Office and Ministry of Justice have taken part in a one-day tour of Jewish communal groups.

The tour was organised by Jon Benjamin, chief executive of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Richard Benson, chief executive of CST and Jeremy Newmark, chief executive of Jewish Leadership Council and included visiting Jewish school JFS, Bevis Marks synagogue and Ella & Ridley Jacobs Residential Care Home & Sam Beckman Special Day Centre.

"This initiative was an important extension of our work to thicken the lines of communication between government officials and the core institutions of our community," said Jeremy Newmark. "It added an important dimension to their understanding of the issues and challenges facing our community."

According to one of the officials attending: "The programme of visits had provided a valuable insight into the diversity of London's Jewish community and the wide range of facilities and services that are provided on a daily basis to Jewish people of all ages and backgrounds."
