Scots reject boycott

A call for Edinburgh Council to boycott products from Israeli-owned Eden Springs has been rejected.
The company, which supplies water coolers to businesses, schools and council premises, was the subject of a boycott call led by Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC).
Before deciding to reject the boycott, Scottish Parliament member Tom McCabe revealed to the Council that the SPSC had suggested a similar boycott to the Scottish Parliament and "was officially dismissed by the Petitions Committee due to the campaigns flawed and inaccurate assertions".
"Edinburgh Council has sensibly and prudently rejected this ill-considered boycott attempt," said Jeremy Newmark, Co-Chair of the Stop the Boycott campaign. "It has been rightly recognised as part of a wider campaign to vilify anything remotely linked to Israel."
