Amy Winehouse could bounce back from her most recent troubles with a holiday album of Jewish tunes, if her producer pal Mark Ronson gets his way.
The Grammy-nominated DJ met up with up Winehouse recently to discuss a possible follow-up to her smash-hit album Back To Black and was amused by the Rehab singers quirky plans to pay a musical tribute to her Jewish roots.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: Were talking about making a holiday record, with Christmas songs on one side and Chanukah songs on the other. Shes got songs called, like, Kosher Kisses and Alone Under the Mistletoe.
Ronson added: She was kind of f**king around, but I was like, You have all these amazing records to play for Christmas, like Motown and Carla Thomas and the Charlie Brown Christmas, and unfortunately, us Jews have nothing that cool to listen to. So we should do something.
And Ronson admits hes impressed that amid all the turmoil going on in her life, including seeing her husband Blake Fielder-Civil jailed at the end of last year, Winehouse is still coming up with hits.
Shes writing songs, and we talked about getting a studio. I have to finish a few other things first, but I imagine well go into the studio this year, he added.
