The Holocaust Educational Trust (HET) and the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (AJEX) have jointly marked Veterans Day with a special educational workshop in Staffordshire which ended with a visit to the National Jewish Memorial.
Students at Chasetown Specialist Sports College joined with HET staff and AJEX members to visit the national memorial in Alrewas which has a Jewish section for a special wrath laying ceremony.
Veterans Day is not only an opportunity to thank all British ex-servicemen and women for their contribution to our country but also a chance to educate students about events which have played an integral part in shaping British history," said Karen Pollock, chief executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust. "Our ex-servicemen and women have played a tremendous and honourable role in protecting our country and we can learn from their example and use this special day to ensure that the lessons of the past are never forgotten."
