Over 120 guests attended a celebratory evening at Sinai School in Kenton, north west London  to mark the retirement of long serving school rabbi, Rabbi Dr Irving Jacobs after 26 years of service to the school.

Among the guest attending were the Mayor of Brent Councillor Ralph Fox, Dayan Ivan Binstock representing the London Beth Din and Dr Simon Hochhauser the President of the United Synagogue.

In a tribute to Rabbi Jacobs, Vivienne Orloff, headteacher of Sinai School,  said: "Thank you for the significant contribution you have made to this school and to the future growth and development of the Jewish community. Your wisdom, kindness and caring disposition are recognised and appreciated by us all and I have enjoyed celebrating with you the many successes of the school over the years."

In response, Dr Jacobs said: "We have a unique opportunity here at Sinai to sow the seeds of Jewish identity for the future generations and I am in no doubt that the work we do here will one day produce a harvest. Sinai School will be with me forever and I look forward to hearing about its future successes."
