Israel national carrier El Al is increasing the discounts it gives to senior citizens, students and children with savings of up to 40% being offered.

The airline, which is facing increased competition from the likes of Bmi and Jet2 is offering flights until the end of March for £292 return.

With Tel Aviv being just four and a half hours away from London, the city is being marketed as a long weekend break with its 24 hour nightlife, cultural delights and international shopping.

"A Tel Aviv weekender for under £450 a person is a real possibility now and with Tel Aviv celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, it really is a great time to go and snap up a great deal," an Israeli tourism spokesperson told SomethingJewish.
