Twenty rabbis from the United Synagogue have attended a seminar hosted by the Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks on the impact of the current credit crunch and the need to provide support to those in the community affected by it.
"It is extremely important for our rabbis and communal leaders to understand the impact the financial crisis and the possible economic recession will have on our members," said Sir Jonathan. "Our seminar was an excellent beginning and we will try to continue to develop pastoral expertise in this field, sharing our experiences with one another and constructing networks of support."
The event was held at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue and guest speakers included Gershon Cohen, head of infrastructure finance at HBOS who talked about the origins of the current economic crisis and David Arnold from the Employment Resource Centre who spoke of what his organisation can offer.
Shraga Zaltzman from TrainE which provides training to the community also spoke of the work they do to help people.
