Depeche Mode announce tour to Israel
Israeli Depeche Mode fans are in for a treat when the band kick off their latest world tour in Tel Aviv next year.
Speaking at a press conference in Paris this week, the British rockers announced that the 34-date series of shows would begin at Hayarkon Park in the Israeli city on May 7th 2013.
And the date will fulfil a promise lead singer David Gahan made during a concert at Tel Aviv's Ramat Gan stadium in 2009, when he said that the band would return to Israel in the future.
"In 2009 we promised to 50,000 fans in Israel that we'd return soon, and we're excited to announce that our upcoming world tour will debut at Park Hayarkon in Tel Aviv,' the band said in a statement.
Gahan added: "I'm thriled about the new album and I'm very excited to get back on tour.
Israeli concert promoter Shuki Weiss also expressed excitement at the forthcoming show, saying, "Israel continues to strengthen its position as an important player on the international touring map."
He added: "he number of tour debuts in Israel is growing and the once-hidden power of the music-loving Israeli audience is now a known entity in the world artistic community. Depeche Mode is continuing that trend with its decision to open up their world tour in Israel. "
