Israel's ambassador to the UK has made his firsit official visit to Scotland.  In a meeting with Scotland First Minister Alex Salmond, Daniel Taub discussed opportunities between Scotland and Israel in various industries including technology, energy and health.

"I gave the First Minister an update on the situation in the Middle East and shared with him my concerns about the elements of extreme hostility to Israel in parts of Scottish society," Taub said. "We also explored the possibility of co-operation between Israel and Scotland, particularly in the fields of business, technology, health and renewable energy.”

As well as meeting politicians, Taub spoke to students, the St Andrews Foreign Affairs society and also had a meeting with the Moderator of the Church of Scotland which those atteding called a "productive discussion, explored the ways that faith could be used in a positive manner to bring peace to the region".

The visit concluded with with a breakfast with Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance Ken Macintosh MSP and members of the Glasgow Jewish community and other supporters of Israel. The breakfast was co-hosted by the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council and the Honorary Consul of Israel in Scotland.
