JCC for London
With just a year to go before it formally opens its doors in autumn 2013, London's new Jewish Community Centre is to be renamed JW3.
The rebranding of the Swiss Cottage centre in Finchley Road with a NW3 postcode follows similar naming of other Jewish community centres across the globe, with New York's Y on 92nd Street better known as 92Y.
“I love the name," London JCC chair Debbie Klein told the Jewish Chronicle. "It reflects our aspiration for the building to be a home from home and a cultural destination."
When it opens in 2013, JW3 will offer a full range of services to the community including learning centre, kosher cafe, freelance work centre, day-care Jewish nursery, perfomance studios and a 60 seat cinema.
