I am delighted to have this opportunity to wish the Jewish community a very happy and successful Rosh Hashana.
Britain’s Jewish community plays a central role in the cultural, economic and moral life of London and the United Kingdom as a whole. The values that stand behind its success – such as education, enterprise, family and community – are many of the same values that we share in the Conservative Party as we develop our alternative programme to provide a fair deal for the people of Britain.
New Year is always a time for reflection, and I want to use it to emphasise our commitment to a tolerant, diverse and inclusive society in which nobody is held back and no-one is left behind.
