Make your own movie
Last updated: 2003-10-13
Lloyd Kaufman, the legendary filmmaker and founder of Troma is coming to London to deliver a two-day masterclass on independent filmmaking.
Would-be filmmakers from the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands and South Africa will be attending the event which runs on November 8 and 9 and will show what can be made on a low or no budget.
Normally it costs £150 plus VAT to attend both days which itself is a real bargain, but if you quote SomethingJewish when making a booking, you will get a special 10% discount.
During the two days, there will be screenings, demonstrations, Q&As, a drinks/networking session on the last day and invaluable and hilarious anecdotes from Kaufmans thirty years experience in the film industry and the history of Troma, the longest-running truly independent film studio in history.
In his Make Your Own Damn Movie! masterclass, Kaufman will be using real-life examples from his own thirty years experience in the business ('The Toxic Avenger' series, 'Tromeo and Juliet', 'Class of Nuke' Em High' and 'Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.'), to llustrate the whole independent filmmaking process from conception to completion, with little or no budget.
Among the highlights will be learning how to:
Develop and write a 'knock-out' screenplay
Cast actors and hire crew
Obtain equipment, permits and musical rights for little or no money
Make incredible stunts and special effects for 50p
Distribute and promote your own movie
