Comedian Aaron Barschak has been jailed for 28 days after being found guilty of causing criminal damage at an art gallery in Oxford.

The 37-year-old, who made the headlines earlier this year when he gatecrashed Prince William's 21st birthday party dressed as Osama Bin Laden, was convicted last month of throwing red paint over Turner Prize-nominated artist Jake Chapman.

Barschak, from Golders Green, North London, claimed that he was creating a work of art by throwing the paint over Chapman at the Modern Art Gallery in Oxford, where the artist was hosting an exhibition with his brother Dinos.

He denied the charge, and told police that he wanted to photograph the event as his own entry for the prestigious Turner Prize.

However, citing it "…the creation of a complete mess," District Judge Brian Loosely found Barschak guilty at the trial on October 30.

Barschak, who calls himself 'the comedy terrorist', took his show Osama Like It Hot to the Edinburgh Festival during the summer following the Royal break-in.
