UK's only Jewish arts and entertainment radio programme grows thanks to the internet
29 December 2003 - The UK's only weekly Jewish arts and entertainment programme on radio, The SomethingJewish Show is building up a firm following not only in London where it is broadcast but also across the internet.
Broadcasting on London's first radio art station Resonance 104.4fm, The SomethingJewish Show from leading Jewish website SomethingJewish (
www.somethingjewish.co.uk), goes out each and every Sunday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Resonance104.4fm and on the internet at
www.resonancefm.com"We are really starting to build up a following for the show, not just in London where people can tune in to hear it but also in other parts of the UK and the world where they can access it through the internet," said SomethingJewish editor Leslie Bunder and co-presenter of the radio show.
"Our policy of offering an eclectic playlist as well as live interviews is giving people the chance to hear sounds and voices they won't hear anywhere else," Bunder added. "And the e-mails from not just the UK, but also USA, Canada and South Africa have shown the importance of webcasting it."
The SomethingJewish Show features the best in arts and entertainment along with information on the best events in town as well as what's happening on screen and stage.
Among those performers who have been featured on The SomethingJewish Show are: Dan Bern, Hyim, Ari Gold and Peaches. Plus, classic Klezmer music from the American Jewish Music collection created by the Milken Archive.
As well as music, The SomethingJewish Show features the best in Jewish comedy and has played highlights from Mel Brooks' broadway hit The Producers.
"There is such a great range of Jewish music and spoken word that has never been aired in the UK and through the SomethingJewish Show, it gives performers an opportunity to have their music and performance listened to," Bunder added.
Says Station Programmer Ed Baxter: "Having the SomethingJewish in our schedule reflects the incredible richness of London's cultural life."
