Lib Dem MP sympathy for terrorism

Last updated: 2004-01-23

The Board of Deputies has expressed outrage following comments this week by Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament, Jenny Tonge, who expressed sympathy for Palestinian suicide bombers and suggested that she would consider becoming one herself.

Board Director General Neville Nagler commented: "We are shocked that a British Member of Parliament could so distort the facts as to justify suicide bombings. There can be absolutely no justification for such a statement. Ms. Tonge has suggested that she would consider becoming a murderer of innocent civilians; of men, women and children. This is intolerable and we call upon the Liberal Democrat Party to take the necessary action against this Member."
