Julie Chain joins CRE chair Trevor Phillips
A Jewish women has been appointed as a part-time commissioner to the Commmission for Racial Equality (CRE), Home Sectretary David Blunkett has anounced.
Julie Chain, joins two other new commissioners including Mohammed Aziz and Digby Jones as they take up their posts to help spearshead a modernisation programme for the CRE working with CRE chair Trevor Phillips from 1 February.
Chain, 46 is general counsel and director of mobie phone network T-Mobile UK. She has a degree from Cambridge University and qualified as a solicitor in 1984.
Chain also sits on the board of Virgin Mobile, the joint venture with T-Mobile and is also a Governor of Naima Jewish Preparatory School; Trustee of the Jewish Association of Business Ethics and a member of the management board for Golders Green Synagogue.
