My mother passed away years ago until then my father would say Kaddish on the Yartzhit of her father my grandfather Because the rest of my mother s brothers are not religious they will not say kaddish on my grandfathers Yartzhit After my mothers death my father said he is not a blood relative so he has no obligation to say Kaddis and suggested maybe I take the task Do I need to say kaddish on his Yartzhit?
You may say kaddish if you want to, but not in front of your father.
